| Are You Happy? Somewhere in 2007, I had reached a point where I realized that my life could not continue the way that it was. I hated my life, and most of what I did every day. I was working on average about 12 hours a day, seven days a week, and probably enjoying less than 10% of my job. I was stressed to breaking point, and thoughts of suicide were my first and my last, every day. I wished to be dead. We were going backwards financially, month after month, had already lost all the savings that I had built up over the years before that time, and the bank had issued me with official warnings that, were I to not make significant payments towards my house and car, I would lose these. Today, which is, for the record, the 19th of September, 2009, I work about eight hours a day, and I love every moment of it. I have no debt. My income comfortably covers my monthly living expenses. So is this web-site another "how to get rich?" No. I am not rich. I don't live in a big fancy house and I don't drive an expensive car. I live in a small city in China, renting an apartment which is quite comfortable. I cycle around to where I want to get to most of the time. Maybe I'll be rich one day. Then I might add some advice on that front, to this web site. But I am happy. I had to reach a point of utter, bitter unhappiness to realize that being happy is important. You can live your life until you reach such a low point. Or you can make a decision today, that you will begin to be happy. If you want to live a life which is mostly characterized not by what society calls success, but by a sense of happiness and contentment, low levels of stress, a sense of purpose and fulfillment, and enjoying most of what you do, then I am hoping that this web site could be of help to you. Interested? Please take a moment to understand where I am at in terms of this web site, so that I don't disappoint your expectations before we've even started! |
